Oh My, Good Times at the CKY Party

View Photos from the Party

I think the above picture of Becky says it all. It was a ton of fun watching the CKY movies last night, we ended up getting through CKY, CKY2K and CKY3. I got home around 7:15 and the pizza had been delivered and nobody had arrived yet. It gave me the chance to pack for the big ski week and change to get ready for everybody. People started arriving at 7:45 and had some pizza and chatted until the movie began at 8. The seating was tight, but everybody seemed to be reasonably comfortable except I did notice Ryan having issues while leaning against the ottoman and trying to laugh at the same time. Seeing the movies on DVD on the 34" tv, was completely different from watching the grainy .mpg on my laptop. It was great to have everybody over, I am also very thankful to my mom and stepfather for putting up with our rowdiness, you guys are the best.

Once we finished the three movies, I did decide we were a bit loud for the house at that point and said we should move the party to a more late night appropriate setting as in Britt's house. We all made our way over there and watched the final installment of the box set, the CKY Documentary. I had never seen it before and it was hilarious. The skit about how to break into a house was so funny. After the DVD was finished, there was an extra treat involved because we got to watch a video, Ryan, Britt, Nissa and Becky made for school. It was hilarious almost as funny as the CKY videos themselves. My favorite would have to be the Cribs for Captain Ahab, it was tres funny. You guys need to release that on DVD and I definitely think there is a need to create more videos like that this summer. At 1AM everybody headed home, we were all quite tired, especially since most of us had been there the night before until 2AM. I hope everybody had a great time, I know I did. So when is the LiveJournal party going to be happening :o)Have a great New Year's Eve everybody.

The mileage contest ends tonight, the odometer currently reads about 6060 miles, the ending mileage should be around 6220 by midnight, so it looks like Sarah is going to be the big winner. I do want to thank everybody for entering and keep an eye out for another contest very soon.

Scruples of Fun

It was an exhausting weekend, but it was a ton of fun. Headed to Maine on Friday night after work with Amy. Did the Suds thing and then headed home. Skiied on Saturday and then afterwards we went to Saturday's Cantina, which was awful. Sunday was more of the same, with some skiing, I kind of took it easy this weekend, not much jumping at all. I just have to save up my energy for the five day skiing marathon coming up this week. I can't even imagine how tired I will be on Saturday night, I was in bed by 9:30 this past weekend after only one day of skiing, after four, I will probably go to bed at like 4:00. Overall the conditions were exceptional, with a ton of snow and finally some bumps are appearing all over the mountain except at 3-D.

We came back on Sunday night, upon returning home I did some laundry and made a few phone calls. I also put some new strings on my guitar, I had to since I busted a string last week. I wasn't able to practice though since I got to open some more Christmas presents from my aunt and then headed over to her house to hang out with Britt and company. When I got there they were all watching Donnie Darko View Trailer. I wasn't able to watch much of it because I got a phone call, but what I did see was very very strange. After the movie we played some games, starting with Scruples, which while I started off well, did not win the game. Next we played Loaded Questions, which was another fun game. Both games require you to know the other players, but I still did okay despite having met Dan and Jordan, that night. We played until 2AM, it was definitely good times. I do think a certain someone should have taken my $10 offer, it was a totally win/win situation, you would have been more comfortable and made an easy ten bucks. Hopefully many of them will be showing up tonight at the CKY party at my house. If any of you are reading this, it will start at seven, I may be showing up a little later, but start the show without me, I should only be about fifteen or twenty minutes late.

Nice Short Week

Beware of Falling Ice!!!
Funny story from yesterday, Oscar and I were going to get some lunch at Quincy Market and on the walk there, we almost got nailed by falling snow from the skyscraper high above us. The rest of the walk we were constantly looking up to avoid getting bonked on the head. We made it safely to Zuma a mexican restaurant. While eating our lunch I glanced over to my right and saw something moving on the floor. It was a mouse, now I personally don't care, but most people would probably freak at that point. He started to get close, so I stomped my foot to scare him away, he backed off and then reappeared across the room about five minutes later. We never said anything to the waiter and left the restaurant after we finished. Now for the funny part, we were walking outside back to work minding our own business and heard a loud crashing noise. Some ice had fallen off the roof of a building and just missed a guy who was going inside. Oscar saw this and burst out laughing at the top of his lungs. Everybody who had been looking at the ice, was now looking at us because of the laughter. Oscar then yells out to the guy, "You almost got killed," and continued his eruption of laughter. The laughing continued until we were a few blocks away, when once again we turned our attention upwards to avoid getting hit ourselves.

Major mobile phone issues yesterday for me, first my battery died and I had to buy a charger at Radio Shack, once I got to my car, I was able to get it back online and once again be accessible to the masses of people who call me everyday. The next issue came when I was in Hanover, I received a phone call and the signal was so bad in the area, my call was dropped three times. I then had to make another call and I was on analog roam, what is the deal with Hanover, they need to get the mobile phone thing straightened out. On my way home, I did notice a cell tower right next to the mall, maybe it is just Sprint who needs to get there act together. Anyway, went to dinner at Pizzeria Uno and then saw Two Weeks Notice, the new Sandra Bullock movie. It was pretty funny, and I must say Hugh Grant is great at playing arrogant roles. Sandra was hilarious as usual and her character was just so quirky, intelligent, but quirky. Definitely check it out!!

Anyway I am tired, but looking forward to heading up north for the weekend. 100+ trails this weekend at Sunday River.

Per request of Britt I will be cutting back on the lyrics section. I shall now only provide one line or just a significant quote.

364 Shopping Days 'til Christmas

A ton of stuff has happened since my last entry, but I will only give the summary. I got out of work on Christmas Eve and went to my Dad's to give him his card. Got a call while there and ended up at a Christmas party. Good times at the party, I witnessed the largest Yankee Swap I think I have ever seen, with 39 gifts involved. It made me wonder why they call it a "Yankee" Swap, I tried to find something this morning on Google but I didn't have any luck, so if somebody knows or has something witty to say, post a comment. After the party I went over to Britt's to exchange presents. I got a cool rock with eyes(well I actually busted one of them off) and a Mad About You mug from Nissa :o). I went home and got a couple of hours of sleep.

On Christmas morning, I woke up and drove to Sunday River, I had to get off at Exit 3 because of an accident and took back roads from there, I actually got there in 2 hours and 10 minutes. The skiing was unbelievable, I basically skied every open trail and really enjoyed the empty groomed mountain. It didn't start snowing up there until about 1:30, I decided to go home at 3:00. The drive was okay for the first 45 minutes, but then the trouble began, near white out conditions and the roads were a disaster. It only got worse, the Maine Turnpike was very bad and now it was dark. I saw about five cars off the road, three of them were Jetta's, a bad omen.

I did make it home three and a half hours later and went back to Britt's. Becky and Jacq were over there and then Becky had to bring her car home, so I volunteered to give her a ride back. Team work time, we all cleaned off her car. Then she proceeded to get stuck at the end of Greenwood Street and we all helped push her out into the road. After this brief adventure, I went home to have dinner with my family. Opened presents and all that fun stuff and went to bed an exhausted little pup pup.

I woke up this morning and decided to shovel the front walk, because I actually enjoy shoveling. I would like to own my own house just so I can have a driveway to shovel. After shoveling I shaved for the first time since the chin abrasion, and it doesn't look too bad, I can't believe how quickly it healed. I stopped by the Andyman this morning to make sure Becky made it to work okay. I walked in and said "Gimme a plain bagel." Haha. They have one of those lame ass community tip jars there, what is to inspire a worker to work hard if they have to share there tip with everybody else. Well anyway, in honor of her only having two days left I took a picture with the spycam.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song title: Satellite
Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder.
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping tom for the mother station

Winter's cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, hey satellite

Christmas, Christmas Time is Here

I finally broke down and purchased the helmet, everybody has been hounding me about. I just had to make sure I found a cool one and as you can see below, I look about ten times cooler with the helmet.

The most joyous day of the year is upon us again, it really doesn't feel like it to me though. I mean yeah I had to run around last night and get a bunch of gifts, but it just doesn't feel like Christmas. Perhaps it is the whole lack of a relationship and since most of my family is working there won't be much of a celebration. I am not complaining about the lack of a relationship, well okay I am because you all know me and that is basically all I ever talk about. I guess it is just one of the many annoyances you all have to deal with everyday, sorry. Note to all of you out there, I probably won't stop complaining about it anytime soon, so get used to it. Now I have been side tracked, where was I oh yes Christmas. I am expecting to get one of the best Christmas gifts this year, you are probably thinking that somebody actually found a way for me to meet Dave Matthews. Well if that was the case the subject of this entry would be something like The Best Christmas of My Life, but it is not. The gift actually comes from mother nature, a storm is tracking into the region for late Christmas date and conveniently I will be up in Maine skiing. They are supposed to get at least six inches with some meteorologists calling for 12-24 inches. I will settle for somewhere in between the two guesses. The weekend should be UNBELIEVABLE, I am sure it will also be busy, I think there should be preferential treatment at the lifts if you have skiied every weekend. We all know that is never going to happen but I can dream.

I guess that is all for now, not much is happening. I would like to wish everybody a happy and safe holiday. Thanks again for checking in and reading my little old LiveJournal. Later this week look for another column by Rendezvous Casualties and next week the First Annual Year of My Life in Review, the story should prove to be mostly positive with a couple disappointing setbacks, but overall a good year.

Good luck with your families!!

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song title: Christmas Song
She was his girl; he was her boyfriend
She be his wife; take him as her husband
A surprise on the way, any day, any day
One healthy little giggling dribbling baby boy
The wise men came three made their way
To shower him with love
While he lay in the hay
Shower him with love love love
Love love love
Love love is all around
Not very much of his childhood was known
Kept his mother Mary worried
Always out on his own
He met another Mary for a reasonable fee, less than
Reputable as known to be

His heart was full of love love love
Love love love
Love love is all around
When Jesus Christ was nailed to the his tree
Said "oh, Daddy-o I can see how it all soon will be
I came to shed a little light on this darkening scene
Instead I fear I spill the blood of my children all around"

The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around
So the story goes, so I'm told
The people he knew were
Less than golden hearted
Gamblers and robbers
Drinkers and jokers, all soul searchers
Like you and me

Rumors insisited he soon would be
For his deviations
Taken into custody by the authorities
Less informed than he.
Drinkers and jokers. all soul searchers
Searching for love love love
Love love love
Love love is all around

Preparations were made
For his celebration day
He said "eat this bread and think of it as me
Drink this wine and dream it will be
The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around"
The blood of our children all around

Father up above, why in all this anger have you fill
Me up with love
Fill me love love love
Love love love
Love love
And the blood of our children all around

Busted Stuff

Ouch!!! As most of you would assume I went skiing this past weekend, what a surprise. On the way up Friday, I decided to try a different route, and perhaps avoid the traffic on Route 26, and the new route worked. It was a lot more fun too, especially with my new car, which for all of you in the contest now has 5080 miles. I got to the apartment and then headed to Suds. Travis told me he was coming up and never showed, so I ended up staying up late waiting and then just fell asleep. I called in the morning to make sure he was okay and he answered the phone and said, "Yeah I'm not coming up." I was less than thrilled. Anyway then I headed up for some skiing and about halfway through the day was doing a jump onto like a rock face thing and fell flat on my face. It knocked the wind out of me and my chin got all scratched up. I would put up a picture, but I am an idiot and left the camera at home. Stupid, stupid, stupid. So I basically bled all day long and now people look twice at me because of the scar. I did continue to ski though and although it was very icy, I had a great time skiing. One good thing to mention was that I hit a very large jump on Saturday and dialed up a 360, this was quite an accomplishment since I had never tried one of a jump so large.

Day 2, more injuries. The weather yesterday was very similar to the prior day, and the trail conditions were actually a little better since they made a lot of snow over night. Now I need to tell you about this annoying girl, I always see around the lodges. Apparently her name is Ashley, but every weekend I have seen her at some point. She basically walks around and in her boy crazy state, goes up and talks to basically anybody. This past weekend she finally spoke to us and let me tell you it was weird. I thought she was going to say something about the fact that we are always looking at her, but no she said, "Just a tip for you guys, before you accuse somebody of stealing your bag, make sure it isn't stolen first." She then walked away, barefoot, with pajama bottoms, a t-shirt and goggles on her head. Once again I would provide a picture, but I am stupid and left the camera at home.

After the encounter with the girl, we headed back up to the mountain for some more skiing. Now it is starting to get dark and we head for the terrain park. The first time through everything went well, I hit the rail all good, hit a couple jumps great, we then went back up to do it again (BAD IDEA). I came down to do the rail first and almost wiped out, after recovering I headed for the second jump and launched about ten feet into the air and came down hard. The result of the crash was two sprained thumbs, a bruised hip and two bruised shins. I was able to get up and do a couple more runs, but that was all the jumping I would be doing for the day. I got back home last night and of course, my mom was all about giving me a hard time about my face. I know I deserved it, but I still don't think a helmet would have made a difference.

Had some nachos for dinner and then headed to bed early to try and heal for next weekend. I hear a big snowstorm is coming on Wednesday, it may mean a holiday trip up to Sunday River. Oh yeah, I almost forgot that Christmas is here, boy I can't wait. Maybe I should finish up my shopping. Well everybody who has tomorrow off, enjoy the holidays. Appropriate subject today, for a couple reasons.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song title: Busted Stuff
Not enough, never too much, baby look just like love
Rolling stone gathers no moss but leave a trail of busted stuff
You know she’s going to leave my broken heart behind her
I’ll take what she’s giving up
You know she’s going to leave my broken heart behind her
I’ll take what she’s giving up yeah

Moving to kiss, sweet sugar lips, baby look just like love
Without a care she floats above me, she got me down here looking up
You know she’s going to leave my broken heart behind her
I’ll take what she’s giving up
You know she’s going to leave this broken man behind
She’s the one for me

When she move, she move so cool got me feel just like a fool
But inside is where the devil rides woman look just like love
You know she’s going to leave my broken heart behind her
I’ll take what she’s giving up
You know she going to leave this broken man behind
She’s the one for me

You know she going to leave this broken man behind

Nothing Doing

I feel this journal has really gone downhill over the past week, the content has certainly been lacking. I think it is due to the holidays and the fact that I know not many people are reading it as much. Today will be no exception to the recent string of uninteresting entries. The most notable thing from the last day was seeing Dick Albert and Harvey Leonard at Downtown Crossing ringing the Salvation Army bells. I wish I had the spycam with me, because I would have loved to get a picture with those guys, since I really love meteorology. Besides that nothing notable happened in my life, I basically went home after work and did laundry, ironed and played the guitar. My playing has really come along over the past couple months, I just wish I could learn how to sing and play.

I did talk to my dad and try to cut a deal with him for Christmas, because it occurred to me that I was going to buy him a $50 gift certificate and he was going to give me a check for $50. It just seems silly to trade the same monetary amounts so I said we should just exchange cards. I think he kind of agreed, but I am not sure.

The weather is kind of weird today with the current temperature at the Museum of Science at 54 degrees. It is hard to believe that it will be winter tomorrow morning. Not that it really matters because I will be skiing either way, though I am seriously considering going to Sugarloaf instead of Sunday River. I think I need a little variety in my skiing season, it is a bit of a drive, but I love to drive, plus it will help add a ton of miles to the car.

Well I hope everybody has a great day and a super weekend. Peace out, have fun shopping for Christmas.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song title: The Dreaming Tree
Standing here
The old man said to me,
"Long before these crowded streets
Here stood my dreaming tree."
Below it he would sit
For hours at a time
Now progress takes away
What forever took to find
And now he's falling hard
He feels the falling dark
How he longs to be
Beneath his dreaming tree

Winter ocean rescue

Yesterday was a great day, once I got home, and chilled a little bit, I decided to go and see the new Lord of the Rings movie. It was pretty good, a bit long, but fairly true to the book. I haven't actually read the books in over a year, however it all started to come back to me and they certainly strayed from the story for a couple things, overall though it was very close.

After the movie I was going to go home, but at the last minute decided to go to the beach, it was warm yesterday, so I figured the water wouldn't be too cold. Seriously though I only went to enjoy the peacefulness of the beach in winter(well almost winter, it starts Saturday @ 8:15 AM). As expected it was quiet and I walked along the river and stopped at the toothpick (a navigational day marker in the Merrimack River) and watched the sunset. The sky was cloudless, and as always seems true with a clear cold sky, it was extrememly colorful. After the sunset I headed back towards the car and realized just how much heat we get from the sun, because I was freezing. Just before I returned to my car, a guy yelled down to me from the seawall and asked if I knew what was going on across the river. I glanced across the icy cold river and noticed a police SUV driving across the sand and told the man I did not know what was going on over there. I then quickly ran back to my car to grab my binoculars. I broke out in a brisk walk towards the jetty with my field glasses in hand, to get a closer view of the commotion on the opposite side of the river. I stopped about a quarter of the way along the jetty and peered towards the southern jetty and saw a mass of people huddled around something. I immediately called my mother to see if there was any radio traffic on the scanner at home and she told me somebody was trapped out on the rocks and a helicopter was sent to rescue them. I thanked her for the information and quickly hung up the phone to continue with my observation of the situation. No sooner had I put my phone away and a Coast Guard cutter appeared on the horizon, it made its way towards the mouth of the river and once inside approached the jetty with the rescue workers. The crew aboard the boat threw a backboard to the people on the rocks and then backed away. At this point I was very confused, because it seemed the workers could very easily have carried the man back to shore, so I didn't really see much need for a helicopter. It was starting to get very cold from where I stood, but I just couldn't pull myself away and felt like I had to see this escapade through until the end. The firefighters placed the person on to the backboard and carried him to the waiting police vehicle. Apparently the backboard could float and this is why they waited for the Coast Guard to show up. The emergency vehicle quickly made its way around the sandy peninsula and towards the hospital. I was relieved to see the person was safe, but at the same time disappointed that I wasn't able to see a helicopter rescue. The cold suddenly overcame me and I realized it probably was time to head back to the car. Upon reaching the car I heard the faint sound of helicopter blades and glanced southward to see a helicopter approaching the river. It seemed very odd since they had just removed the stranded person, so I stopped and looked up at the chopper trying to figure out where it was going. The pilot circled the scene a few times and I figured out what was going on, it was the Channel 7 News helicopter, trying to get a story. Unfortunately, they just missed it by only a matter of minutes and you had to hear about this story from me. The Newburyport News covers it as a Page One Story

After the beach I headed home and decided I should eat something. So I hopped in the car and headed towards Pizza Factory, but before I got there I realized I wasn't that hungry and decided to go to the gym instead, so I would become hungry. After the gym I talked on the phone and went home. Brittany and my aunt came over and hung out for a little while, at about 9:30 I took Britt and Nissa to Becky's. I was in bed by 10:00, overall it was a great day.

So far today, I have been in a meeting and that is about it. Oh yeah I have to give a shout out to Ry, welcome to the world of the LJ. Check out his journal here.

Yesterday was a busy day, I did some Christmas shopping, which is kind of boring and frustrating. I then headed to the show, it only took about three hours to get there. Of course as is typical with me, we got there before the opening band played. The show was very energetic and compared to Friday I was in a completely different place. During Pig I just couldn't wipe the smile off of my face. After the show the drive home was difficult because I was so tired, I tried all the tricks of the trade for staying awake including: hot tamales, cold water on the face, fast paced music (not Dave), turning off the heat and cruise control. The stuff apparently worked because I am still here today to talk about it.

Today I am looking forward to relaxing and getting some extra sleep. I have to do some more Christmas shopping and then I think I will go see the new Lord of the Rings movie. I will probably see it a couple times, so I figure why not see it on opening day. In the evening I have to make a trip into Cambridge for BoCaNO. After all this driving over the past couple weeks the mileage has been on an unbelievable pace, the current leader in the contest is Scottie, because the mileage is 4685. Just under two weeks to go and I think I am going to get through almost everybody on the list.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song title: Granny
Hello, how are you doing today?
I hope I find you feeling healthy
I'm so glad our paths crossed this time today
On our way into the night

I say it's love, it's hiding deep, deep down inside us all
So maybe, we'll shed a little love from deep inside
Love, it's not so tough if you come admit it too
Well, baby, you're hearts into a thousand pieces dashed

Stop only the old and wise, with clouded eyes
You can't see what I can
'Cause I blindly throw my faith to the face
Of the next pretty girl that comes my way

Happy Birthday Mr. Poo!!!

I just want to send a birthday wish out to Mr. Poo. Have a great day even though you are now back in the land where "The tension is mounting".

So I am home today hanging out with my mom, who keeps asking me questions about Microsoft Word and I just have no idea how to use it. Who actually uses Word anyway, it seems like the most useless application, all you can do is type into, there aren't formulas or functions or queries. It is all very boring to me, besides if I am going to write a document I will just use Notepad, a nice and simple application. It is nice to be home though, since I really haven't been home except to sleep for the past week or so. I did go out last night and saw the Emperor's Club. It was pretty good, Kevin Kline did a great job and the story was interesting, not very rewarding, but interesting. Since I have been driving so much, combined with my being a little sick has caused me to lose my voice a little bit. You may wonder how that could be, but I always sing in the car and over the past week I have spent about ten hours in my car. I don't know how musicians can go out an perform for weeks on end. The highlight of last night was definitely the snowball fight at 12:45. "Spontaneity is the spice of life."

Tonight I am heading to the big Dave Matthews show in Albany, I can't wait. The band has been playing a variety of songs so far on the tour and I am excited to see what they pull out of their bag of tricks tonight. Only 11 hours until they hit the stage. Oh yeah one last thing, the mileage on the car has been sky rocketing, the current odometer reading is around 4500.

Beck Lyrics of the Day
Song title: Novacane

Keep on truckin like a novacane hurricane
Blowin static on the poor man's short-wave
Stampede's got to dismantle
Code-red: what's your handle
Mission incredible undercover convoy
Full-tilt chromosome cowboy
X-ray search and destroy
Smoke stack black top novacane boy
Got so low your mom won't drum
Getting late with the suicide beat
Test-tube, still-born and dazed
Chump scum plays in the razor's haze
Got the momentum radioactive
Lowdown!
Step aside for the operation
Don't expect some generation
Cyanide ride down the turnpike
Hundred hours on the miracle mic
Grinding the gears eighteen wheels
Pigs and robots riding on their heels
Fine tune road block making a sand box
Diesel infernos burning like drano
Down the horizon purple gasses
Semi-trucks hauling their asses
Novacane, hit the road expressway
Explode!
Novacane!
Novacane!

Out with the bad, in with the good

Well, I don't have much time to make this entry so I am going to make it fast. Basically, I am in a much better mood today, physically I am still a little sick, but mentally I am much improved. It is amazing what a couple of days in the mountains can do to clear up a persons mind. I am also quite happy at work today, because I was given a last minute project with a close deadline and for the first time in a while I am using my brain.

Okay, so the weekend was very relaxing and I actually slept for over ten hours on Saturday night, which was much needed rest. I also stayed in on Saturday and for the first time in a while just hung out by myself and relaxed. Ever since I got this social life, I foolishly haven't given myself much time. So directive one from the weekend is to do just Keegan stuff once in a while, kind of reminds me of the phrase "Be careful what you wish for it just may come true." The skiing was great this weekend, though once again the conditions were adverse. Saturday was a potpourri of precipation with a few inches of snow in the morning followed by rain all afternoon. I was soaked by two o'clock and actually had to buy some new gloves because the interim gloves I was using turned my hands black. Funny stuff did happen during lunch, there were some kids hanging out in the lodge and they were goofing off, as they usually do while I try to enjoy my lunch. One of the kids grabbed a cafeteria tray and walked behind his friend and just smacked him right in the back of the head. It was a total CKY moment. They got it on tape and kept watching it, funny stuff. Sunday's weather was nicer, but the conditions left a lot to be desired. The rain from the prior night froze nicely and caused most of the mountain to turn into a giant ice skating rink. The only exception to the rule was found on the western half of the mountain where it was a lot colder the day before and was in turn a lot drier. It was beautiful over there, I just wish they would open more stuff over at Jordan, because Lollapalooza is so lame ass flat. Can't wait for next weekend.

CKY Party
The party has officially been scheduled for December 30, 2002 at 6PM or sometime after I get out of work. I think we will get pizza and try to watch the trilogy of movies, and perhaps I can get my hands on CKY4 and have a little premiere. See y'all there. Also BoCaNOer's are definitely welcome, actually they are encouraged to show up, think of it as a Fear Factor thing.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Big show in Albany tomorrow, I am counting the hours.
Song title: Pig
Look, here are we
On this starry night, staring into space
And I must say
I feel as small as dust lying down here

Merry Fucking Christmas

Yeah so today is the Christmas party for work, which I am truly looking forward to, NOT! I feel like crap, as I have for the last couple of days, I hate work and want nothing more than to be somewhere else today. I slept for a good two hours last night, so I feel real energized today. So todays entry is almost done, I am in no mood for work, a xmas party or people, but I am sure that all of those will be in my near future, I can't wait. Sometimes I wonder, could I have been somebody other than myself, I wonder could I have been a mean guy or a real jerk, I wonder maybe.

"In the sine curve that is my life, theta just passed pi/2 radians and is quickly making its way towards pi."

Dave Matthews Lyrics of the Day
Song title: Dancing Nancies
He stands touch his hair his shoes untied
Tongue gaping stare
Could I have been a magnet for money?
Could I have been anyone other than me?

Twenty three and so tired of life
Such a shame to throw it all away
The images grow darker still
Could I have been anyone other than me? Then I

Look up at the sky
My mouth is open wide, lick and taste
What's the use in worrying, what's the use in hurrying
Turn, turn we almost become dizzy

I am who I am who I am who am I
Requesting some enlightenment
Could I have been anyone other than me?

Sing and dance I'll play for you tonight
And thrill at it all
Dark clouds may hang on me sometimes
But I'll work it out then I

Look up at the sky
My mouth is open wide, lick and taste
What's the use in worrying, what's the use in hurrying
Turn, turn we almost become dizzy

Falling out of a world of lies
Could I have been dancing nancy
Could I have been anyone other than me?

Chronicles of Rendezvous Casualties

Something new today! Below is a dating story written by Amy, hopefully she will be providing more stories like this one in the future. Enjoy!!
-Keeg

"Chronicles of Rendezvous Casualties"

While it seems of late, I attract men with enough baggage they need their own bellman, I thought my first story should be a classic.

Picture yourself a 16 year old with an 19 year old boyfriend, you are driving home after church with your mom when she decides to ask if you and your boyfriend are having sex. Somehow "yes" comes out of your mouth and you get the feeling you need to immediately jump out of the moving car.

I can 11 years later still mark the exact spot on the road where this question was asked. Much to my surprise my mother was like "okay, are you safe?, and I will make an appointment for you tomorrow with an ob/gyn and get you on the pill". Followed by a "don't worry I will tell your dad and he will understand." I think an "ok" was uttered and then a state of shock took over. Later that day, I tell my boyfriend that my parents now know about our mattress dancing. A couple of weeks go by, I have my appointment, go on the pill and my boyfriend comes to pick me up at my house for a date. The first time since, my parents found out. However, it is not as simple as knocking on the door and us leaving. The boyfriend attempts to pay my dad for the pill prescription stating that its his responsibility by giving my dad a check, my dad argues no its his and this continues on for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the thought of running out the back door into the woods and never returning flashes through my mind. I couldn't even interject anything rational into the conversation, I sat dumbfounded in the living room while this was happening in the foyer. My mother decides to join the conversation and that it was their responsibility really and we should just enjoy - or something to that affect. Now I am thinking Australia might not be far enough away. Finally, my parents win, the boyfriend puts away the check and off I go to my date. Needless to say, a few years later my parents also started to pick up an pay for my brother's condoms when they would pick up my pills at the pharmacy. As for the boyfriend, we broke up when college came along.

BoCaNo for the archives

Well last night was one of the best BoCaNO night's I have been too. There was plenty of lively discussion and just plain zany antics. It all began when we asked the waitress if our party of eleven could sit at a bunch of tables in the bar area at the Kinsale and she said, "No Way". So we split the group up and sat in different booths. The fun really didn't start until after we all moved into one booth. We heard a couple bad date stories, those stories belong in a livejournal somewhere, to the victim of the bad dates if you want you can have a column within my journal just for the stories. The conversation went from there to relationships and the top three characteristics of the "perfect" mate. It is actually a difficult list to come up with, we actually were trying to come up with a list of important characteristics, some examples include: honesty, family, spiritualness, no smoker, and Long Pond Life tolerant to name a few. Yeah I know it sounds kind of lame, but it was very funny, there was much more that went on but I guess it was one of those, "Had To Be There"(HTBT) things.

Mark has been working on a superhero identity for me. My name is "The Lapse" and I have a reindeer for a sidekick. The rest of the description comes from an IM: your reindeer can fly at supersonic speed. you ride him like a horse and you superpower is flying around the globe un-doing peoples bad decisions. your cape has a giant "?" which stands for "what the fuck'dya do that for?" of course, being from Lapsland, you wear the viking helmet. Look for an illustration to appear soon.

Also on another note for those of you who were not lucky enough to see my Boston.com Hotties thing in February. I have decide to post a link to it, Boston.com Hotties.

Okay that is all for today, I guess maybe I will have some brainstorm this afternoon or some more candid photos like the bread lady yesterday afternoon. Who knows?

John Mayer Lyrics of the Day
Song title: My Stupid Mouth
Mama said "think before speaking"
No filter in my head.
Oh, what's a boy to do?
I guess he better find one.

Late great update

Okay I have to add these before I head out for BoCaNo tonight. First, at lunch today we had free sandwiches and if you saw my posting from last month, you know it can be quite a feeding frenzy, just the mention of free food brings everybody out from the woodworking. Here is the view of the table after the sandwiches were unveiled.

Did somebody say free food?

Second, I went to Au Bon Pain with Mr. Poo and we saw the weirdest thing. A woman was checking out the reduced bread, by squeezing it and other odd things. All of a sudden she unwraps the bread and continues the squeezing. She compared a couple loaves and then tried to wrap the bread back up again. In the end she left the unwrapped loaf and bought a different one. Below is a picture, which I might add is the first spy cam picture out in the real world to appear on the LJ. Notice the bamboo jail they keep the reduced bread in, if you look in her left arm she is cradling a nice big loaf.

Sorry for the late entry, but I had to get it out there. Funny stuff.

Feeling a little better

Not much has happened over the last 24 hours, besides a couple of train rides and some sleeping. My cold has gotten a little better, whether or not that is because I wore my hat all day at work, but I am sure it didn't hurt. I did skip the gym last night and just sat in my room watching some TV I had taped and playing guitar. I could play the guitar every waking hour, I just can't put it down, there is always one more song I want to practice. I only wish I was able to sing and play at the same time, if I could learn that I would play for Hoot Night at Suds. It is also a little more interesting for other people, even though it is still quite boring since I can only play Dave, if singing is involved.

That reminds me it is less than one week until my 11th Dave Matthews show of the year and 33rd overall. It will be at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, oddly enough it is my third concert there. I have been blessed with third row seats on the aisle in the floor section, it is shaping up to get into my top five, for a number of reasons. The shows on the winter tour are always very intimate and the setlists tend to be very diverse with surprises sprinkled throughout. I can't wait!!!

I can't wait to go skiing this weekend, I found a website today, with movie clips and step by step instructions on how to do various tricks. It was kind of funny because one of the steps was to Wear A Helmet, this seems to be an ongoing theme in my life. Well if anybody is up for skiing, you should head up to Sunday River on Sunday, I will definitely be there, they should be getting some snow tonight. I want to get a bunch of people to come up and ski some weekend, just for the day of course the apartment is only so big.

Well I am just blabbering about nothing. Oh yeah I do have to give a shout out to Becky and her kick ass inflatable snowman, I saw it last night and it looked great. Also to all journal readers, I am looking to have a CKY box set viewing party sometime over the next month or so while the college kids are back, since they are probably the only people who enjoy this brand of humor. I will post a time and date when I get some more input from interested people.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song title: Rhyme and Reason
Oh well oh well so here we stand
But we stand for nothing
My heart calls to me in my sleep
Now can I turn to it
Cause I'm all locked up in this
Dark place -- and I do not know
I'm as good as dead
My head aches -- warped and tied up
I need to kill this pain

Two for one

Let me start this off by saying this weekend I had a rude awakening at almost two in the morning by a phone call from Scottie. At the time I was not very happy, but it turns out he had been to the Jackass! Live show in Worcester and actually had Ryan Dunn leave a message on my voice mail. Now if I was cool I would have a link with the audio, but unfortunately, I am a bit trigger happy on the delete key in voicemail and no longer have the message. So anyway he actually hung out with Ryan Dunn, Steve-O and Preston Lacey. Here is a picture of Scott with Ryan Dunn.

For a first hand account of the night from PB. Check out this link. Jackass Live

"Don't hate the player, hate the game."

I'm back, a little under the weather, but back

I will now try and give a brief synopsis of my weekend. Four days of skiing, which were great, up at Sunday River. Several trips to Suds for some Hardcore cider and the expensive carnivore pizza. I did get a bunch of bumps, bruises and various injuries from the skiing. I was able to land some more helicopters on some larger jumps, but a lot of the landings caused me to bruise my shin on my ski boots. The helmet debate has really heated up especially since my big fall in the AmEx terrain park. I was doing a nice rail slide and fell, hurting my lower back, but the worst part was that my ski fell off and hit me in the head. The list of people encouraging the new helmet has grown, I was thinking about starting a fund on the journal, if you would like the integrity of this site to continue, please donate money for the Keegan Helmet Fund. Because if I fall and bump my head, who knows if I will be able to keep writing this journal. I know I am all over the place, but I am sick so give me a break.

We also saw a bunch of Santa's skiing on the mountain on Sunday. They have an event where if you wear a Santa suit, you get to ski for free. Here is one of the Santa's skiing behind Travis.

I do need to give a shout out to Noelle, who was kind enough to ski with me on Friday and also invited me to her birthday party on Sunday night, and quite the party it was, some of you know what I mean. Noelle was also kind enough to point out that my mittens stink like feet. We were sitting in the lodge and she started sniffing and thought it was her, and I reassured her by telling her it was definitely my mittens. So now I have attained the nickname of "Stinky Glove Guy". So I decided it was time to purchase some new gloves, the only requirement is that they are washable.

Skiing yesterday was cold, at 8AM it was 0 degrees at the base with a 15-20 mile per hour wind. I did create three rules for cold weather skiing:
1) Leave no skin exposed.
2) Don't fall down (the snow was very hard)
3) Stay away from slow lifts.
I ended up skiing for two hours and then heading home. I did talk to a liftie this weekend, there is this female liftie, and I have been wondering how to say her name, which is spelled, Echoo, so I finally asked and she said (EKOO). Then she asked me how I say my name, now I don't know if she knew I had a strange name or if she just gets asked that question a lot. Gotta love those lifties.

Update on the car, I now have 3555 miles on the Jetta, it was quite a productive weekend. Wendy is currently winning the contest.

Oh yeah, so I am sick today. I hate being sick!!

Where all these troubles weigh down on me will rise
Run to your dreaming when you’re alone
Where all these questions spinning round my head will die, will die, will die

Hey there Mr. Blue Sky

Here is Mr. Poo's drawing of what I would look like tripping on acid.

Only 8 hours to go

In eight hours my long skiing weekend will begin, yeah!! Alright so BoCaNo last night was fun, first time in a couple weeks, plus my first time seeing Kate in what seemed like forever. We went to Whiskey's and had quite the discusssion about bathrooms and going to the bathroom. I learned some rather interesting tidbits and also filled the women(not girls) in on the newspapers which sometimes appear over the urinals in the mens room. The women had no idea, this occurred, I said that in most of them there are actually glass cases for the newspapers. The whole bathroom discussion lasted forever and was kind of unsettling. I did however enjoy it more than the discussion about the biggest age difference you've had in a relationship, I get it already, I will not date anymore teenagers, can't we just move on. Anyway it was a good time and the food wasn't half bad, though the first cider I had was kind of sketchy and looked liked they might not have washed out all of the soap.

Snow update: It looks like they are predicting more snow today, it will start this afternoon and continue until tomorrow morning. Southern MA will get 6-8, Boston area will get 4-6 and north of the city will get 2-4.

My commuting saga has now become a trilogy after this mornings commute. Now I know this is probably boring, but well I don't care. I was getting dressed this morning and my Mom started yelling in a child's voice, "Uh oh, uh oh." So I went into her room and saw a big flashing arrow on the television over the Newburyport/Rockport Commuter Rail Line, there was a delay. I sighed and began plotting my backup plan and knew I would be braving the traffic of Route One again. The worst part about it is that I could have slept later if I had known, which certainly would have come in handy since I went to bed at one :o) Anyway I began the drive and it turned out that people learned from yesterday and have once again remembered how to commute, unfortunately the MBTA was determined to make me late. I arrived at Malden Center station and began waiting for the subway when an announcement came over the PA system, "Due to a disabled train at Sullivan Square there are delays." I sighed once again and considered my options, luckily I had a Haverhill Commuter Rail line schedule in my bag. I checked it and realized a train would be along in five minutes, so I went over to the commuter rail platform, as my luck would have it, as soon as I got there the subway train pulled into the station, but just sat there. Eventually it left and my train arrived, I got into Boston at about the same time I would on my typical train. I then began the long cold walk to work. Just when I thought I beat the MBTA, I recognized a woman that had been waiting for the subway in Malden, she took the subway and beat me to Downtown Crossing. I just can't win, though it turns out the Newburyport train was thirty minutes late, so I guess I did end up ahead of schedule.

Cambridge Star Sighting
Scott and some friends were at a Cambridge bar a couple weekends ago and saw one of the Boston area's most elusive celebrities, Natalie Portman. Apparently she is much shorter than she appears on film. I have heard a lot of stories about meeting famous people and the general consensus is that in person the women tend to be shorter and the men tend to be taller, just a crazy observation I have made. Well, Jimmy went up and talked to her. Now I can't even go up and talked to regular girls, so my hat is off to him. Below is the dialogue that took place:

Jimmy:  "Has anyone every told you that you look like Queen Amadala?"
Natalie:  "Umm...yeah."
Jimmy:  "Are you," (Pause for effect) "Queen Amadala?"
Natalie:  "Yeah."

Immediately following this conversation she left, but whether it is because of what he said or not we will never know.

Link of the Day
Here is another old link, which really reminds me of kids from Amesbury, and how obsessed some kids can be with "pimping" out there cars. It all seems like a waste of money to me, but then again, I have never really been considered a cool kid. Stuntaz

Keegan's Weather
Continued cold today, but once again less windy.
The storm tomorrow will probably act just like the storm last Wednesday, it will start in the late morning and mostly hit southern New England with 3-5 inches, of course there will be some snow North of the city, but it shouldn't be more than an inch.
After this storm it looks like it will be warming up, sunny and 40's for the weekend, get your beach stuff ready.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day

When I step into the light
My arms are open wide
When I step into the light
My eyes searching wildly
Would you not like to be
Sitting on top of the world with
Your legs hanging free

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

The cold weather and snow this morning was quite a wake up call. I am just scared to see how cold it will be once winter actually starts. The WeatherBug on my desktop says it is currently 16 degrees at the Museum of Science. I can see it now, the day is February 10 and the high for the day will be a whopping -5 degrees. The only good thing about this is that it is great for skiing, I always hope we will have a snowy winter like they used to have around in here in the 70's. I remember seeing pictures of my parents outside their house with snow banks towering over my dad and he is a tall guy. We never have snow like that anymore, I guess it is probably a good thing since people now would totally freak out and the entire state would grind to a halt. Even the threat of 3-5 inches causes everybody to raid the stores and act like the end of the world is near.

I decided to drive in today to see if perhaps the people commuting by car had more of a clue than the commuter rail riders. Yeah they don't, the drive to Malden was terrible, maybe it was because the North Shore received a whole inch of snow =-O The traffic was backed up everywhere and it took me almost two hours to get here. I did come to the realization that perhaps my commute is just miserable because I live so far away, but I like living outside of the city, I don't think I could handle being any closer especially after the traffic incident last week.

Link of the Day
Here is a link my friend Julie sent me a while ago, I am sure some of you may have seen it. It is a real page some kid made, but I will admit it is kind of freaky. Heads up this does have sound so keep the volume down. Hello My Future Girlfriend

I just want to give a shout out to Jurate, my first reader, as far as I know, from outside the US. Who would have thought I would have readers in London. Well spread the word and if there are any other readers from outside even New England post a comment and tell us where you are.

Keegan's Daily Weather Report
Today - The cold weather and wind will continue for the rest of the day, with a high temp of 25.
Tomorrow - It will be a little warmer than today, but still quite cold. Snow will be developing in the late evening.
Snow Warning It looks like a snow storm will be hitting the area on Thursday, early estimates say there will be 3-6 inches with most of that once again south of Boston. Stay tuned for updates on this storm, I will know more tomorrow.

London Forecast for Jurate
The showers should continue on and off through tomorrow, with a high near 10 degrees C today and tomorrow. The extended forecast calls for showers, showers and more showers. The cold weather in Boston doesn't seem so bad after hearing about all that rain.

Got a case of the Mooooondays!

Well it is back to work today for a bunch of people after a long weekend and apparently people have forgotten how to commute. The train ride this morning was unbearabale, it was freezing, I think they had the air conditioning on or maybe in one of the back cars they were transporting meat because it was as cold as a meat locker. The people on the train were also very irritating, there weren't any seats left so people were just standing in the aisles with a confused look on their faces. Hello people there aren't anymore seats left, and yes you are going to have to stand, remember this sometimes happened before Thanksgiving. Once we tardily arrived at North Station the progression out of the station was slower than ever and this continued out onto Causeway Street. Finally, the crowd broke up only to reveal Canal Street and all of its messed up traffic. I feel bad for anybody stuck on Canal Street behind the shuttle buses, beer trucks and cabs, god forbid there be a fire, because the fire trucks would never be able to get down the street.

Onto the thrilling drama that is my life. I went skiing this weekend up at Sunday River and it was great, but a little cold yesterday.

The snow wasn't the best, but if you ski on the sides and almost in the woods there was plenty of powder to be had. I did accomplish the goal I had set for the weekend, which was to successfully land the elusive (well elusive for me I know for expert skiers like Oscar they are quite easy) helicopter AKA 360 or spin all the way around. So on my first attempt I crashed and burned, apparently Travis said I chickened out and didn't even make it a quarter of the way around. The next time I got all the way around and landed with my tails crossed and fell and bruised my thumb. Finally on the third try I landed it. For the day I ended up trying eight times and landed four, which will hopefully improve over the course of the winter. I also did my first grinds in the terrain park, of course I fell a couple times on the rail and one of those times impaled myself with my radio, but no pain, no gain. Next week, I will be up there for four days and plan on practicing on some larger jumps.

There was an incident at Sunday River this weekend, I only wish I had a video camera to tape it. Okay Travis and I were sitting in the lodge and this guy came up to us and asked if the skis behind us were ours, and since we follow the rules and leave our skis outside we said, "No."
He proceeded to ask the guys next to us and they said,"Yes."
Security guy: Well you are going to have to take the skis outside.
Rule breaker#1: We are almost done here.
Security guy: No you have to take them out now.
Rule breaker#1: I will in a minute.
Security guy: Okay I have asked you and you have refused if you don't take your skis outside now I am going to have to remove you from the premises.
Rule breaker#1: Why can't they be in here?
Security guy: Listen either take the skis outside or leave.
Rule breaker#1: Okay fine.
Rule breaker#1 takes the skis and the security guy leaves.
Rule breaker#1: I put them out on the deck, I don't see what the big deal is.
Rule breaker#2: I don't know.

Now through all of this I am just thinking, well there are certain rules you need to follow, so just follow them. My guess is they probably don't allow skis in the lodge because either people will get smacked all the time or perhaps they will take up too much space. Bottom line: Follow the rules, they are probably there for good reason.

Weather Report
Today - Mostly cloudy and cold with some light snow this afternoon and into the evening. Highs should be in the 30's, snow accumulation tonight maybe up to an inch in some areass.
Tommorow - Cold again and windy highs in the low 30's, so dress warmly.

They all do it the same way, yeah

Only 600 shopping hours left...

So today is the big day, it is apparently the first and only day people can shop for Christmas gifts. What fool in their right mind would actually go shopping today? Have you ever been to the mall on the Friday after the fourth Thursday in November? It is crazy and people are exceptionally rude, I think it comes from the fact that since yesterday was a holiday they were extra nice and now to balance it out they are complete jerks today. Heck of a way to start off the big Birth of Christ countdown, huh. It is funny how much time there is to shop, something like 600 hours and people have to get it done today. It all comes from a lack of planning, what you should do is write down everybody you have to buy for and then figure out what you want to buy them. If you don't know what to buy them, you obviously don't know them well enough to get them a gift in the first place, so take them off your list and send them a card. Once the list is finished go out and buy the stuff, it should only take a couple hours and you may even be able to do it online. It will also save you money because you planned ahead and didn't impulse buy. It is probably a little late for advice since most of you are reading this on Monday and have already wasted your money impulse buying. Just remember for next time.

I guess I am just pissed that I actually have to work today, why couldn't they just move Thanksgiving to Friday instead, it would sure make things a heck of a lot easier or even better just make Friday a holiday, how about, National Shopping Day and close the stock market. The whole fourth Thursday in November rule is just crap, just make the holiday the last Friday in November and save people the trouble of taking a day off in the middle of the week. I mean seriously why does it have to be Thursday, is it because the Pilgrims supposedly had there Thanksgiving on a Thursday. Oh yeah I am sure they had such great record keeping and knew exactly the date of the first Thanksgiving. It is just like the whole Christmas being celebrated on the the birthday of Christ. I don't want to ruin Christmas for you, but apparently research has been done and he was actually born in like March or April. Okay no big deal so Christmas is a few months early, they also found out that he wasn't even born in the year 1 AD, but actually was born a couple years later. No big deal though we only based our ENTIRE calendar on his birth year (you know the AD BC thing), to think people got in big debates about when the new millenium began, heck it won't begin for a couple years. Yeah I know I am complaining, but that is because I can and besides nobody will be reading this today because they will all be shopping and more importantly NOT WORKING.

Anyway I did have a good holiday yesterday, I guess it all begins on Wednesday when I had to go find a pie I had purchased for charity. I wasn't exactly sure where to pick it up so Scott and I went to a few buildings with no luck. Finally we were given a clue by a security guy after I asked him if he knew anything about pies. He said I could get the pie at South Station. The scavenger hunt continued and after almost tripping over the display of pies, we found them and it only took a half an hour. I headed home and actually almost forgot the pie. I did however notice that a bird had crapped on my bag, but I don't know when because it was all dry.

Once home I went out with Britt, Nissa and Emily to Margarita's, it was a fun time, and afterwards we watched CKY with OJ. Funny stuff!! Yesterday morning was fun filled because I had to get a couple of kittens and put them in the car and take them to Revere, which conveniently was right next to the airport where I was dropping my Dad off. I finally got back to "The Bury" at ten, just in time to freeze my ass off at the football game. I think this was my last year, it is soooooo booooring, nothing ever happens, they only run and when they run they average two yards per carry. So that pretty much sucked, though I did get to see the girls including Becky this time. Went home after that and played guitar for four hours, and now my fingers are killing me, I think it is time for a lighter string. Britt and Nissa came over and we ended up going through a bunch of stuff I had saved from the past, including: a prom video, street riding video, old pictures and a ton of other old stuff. After that we watched CKY2K, which of course was funny then it was off to bed.

Does this look like me?

Today - Cold all day with increasing clouds and snow showers tonight.
Saturday - Warming up to the low 40's with some rain.

I'm dreaming of a white Thanksgiving

It appears my forecast was correct and we have in fact received some snow, why couldn't it have just waited until tomorrow. Well, it is here and there isn't much we can do about it except enjoy it by having a snowball fight or building a snowman.

Keegan's Thanksgiving Weather Report
The snow should be tapering off today from Northwest to Southeast, with just some cloudiness later in the day. The Highway department should have the roads nice and clear just in time for everybody to travel tonight. It looks like Turkey Day will be sunny, but a bit chilly with temps in the upper 20's. I know I will be spending some of the day watching the Amesbury Fighting Indians play there first home TDay game in like five years, hopefully the snow and home crowd will inspire them to win their first game of the season.

Lets see should I tell the funny story first or should I go off about the complaint I have. I think I will go with funny first. So here is a picture, which was drawn by Scottie:

Notice the guy in the picture carrying the pizza because he is the subject of this great story of just how stupid some people can be. Scottie and I went to get lunch and I decided on Jay-Bo, not because the pizza is good, but because it was cheap and since I am terrible at determining if something tastes good or not it doesn't matter to me. So I was in line and these three guys got a large pizza and some soda, the guy got the pizza and sort of tipped it and I thought, "He will straighten it out after he pays.". Well he didn't and ended up just tucking it under his arm like a book and walked out of the place. I couldn't believe it and Scottie wasn't there so I had no proof. Finally, he showed up and I totally forgot what it was I wanted to tell him and he asked if I had seen the guy carrying the pizza. It was so classic, it is as if the guy has never had pizza before, can you even imagine what a mess that pizza ended up in. Stupid People RULE!!!

Continuing with the stupid theme, I am certainly not exempt from being stupid, because when I decided yesterday afternoon it would be a great idea to meet a friend in Hanover, I was quite stupid. You may ask how could that be stupid, well lets just say it took me two hours to drive from Malden to Hanover, for those of you not familiar with these towns it is a short 27 miles according to Mapquest and should only take 30 minutes. I foolishly did not take into consideration the holiday and the fact that the meteorologists put everybody into panic mode by saying the two simple words SNOW and STORM. The traffic was insane, and I also learned another valuable lesson, even though it seems like a good idea, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT TRAVEL IN THE CARPOOL LANE on 93S. Once you are trapped in that damn thing, you are finished, there is no way out unless you have an SUV and can climb the curb. There are no exits and you are just forced to stick it out, I thought for sure I was going to get out of my car and jump off the damn bridge. At least in the other lanes you can jockey back and forth between lanes and feel like you are accomplishing something, but just sitting there really makes you realize you aren't moving. It is amazing people don't kill themselves out of road rage, I was going out of my mind, not only because I was late, but because I was stupid enough to even consider driving on such a day. The only good thing to come from the whole experience was that I am now sure I want to live in the country, perhaps Maine or Vermont ;o) I just need to get a cool telecommuting computer job and I will be all set, or perhaps if this journal really takes off I could just do this. Oh yeah to add insult to injury on the way home at midnight, I hit traffic again in the South Station tunnel because they decided to see if they could get three lanes to one lane in less than one mile, can you believe that?

Mileage Contest

So far I have received eight entries for the mileage contest, I am kind of disappointed, because I think it is an easy 20 bucks. I will continue accepting entries until December 4, so just email me keegsands@aol.com and let me know your guess. For the rules see the posting from November 25.

More Eminem

Because the pictures are generally more interesting than some of the mindless stories I tell I have included this cartoon representation of Eminem in the film 8 Mile. The artist of this drawing was Scottie. Apparently in the movie Eminem plays the role of a rapper nicknamed Bunny Rabbit. Now that is a threatening name, he might as well take a name from the Teletubbies and call himself Tinky Winky. I guess my rap nickname probably wouldn't be anything menacing: Keeg Doggy Dogg, GoatBoy, Kay-W, Dr. Keeg, Ice Keeg, Kickin Keegan. The possibilities are endless, but I don't think I will be starting a rap career anytime soon. See now I am just trying to make stuff up, which is kind of stupid, I wish I had something good to complain about or a question to ask.

Wait actually I do, is it weird that I had peas, butternut squash and stuffing for the first time on Sunday. I think it is kind of good in a weird way that I haven't had them until now because it has opened up a ton of new possibilities for me. It is kind of like moving to a different country and getting to experience all new foods. Perhaps it is a bad thing though because it means I have lived a relatively sheltered life and this would mainly be the fault of my parents. Why couldn't they institute a rule, which a friend of mine said she had growing up. Pay attention this is a good idea I believe it was called the "No Thank You Helping", which means you are given a very small amount of a food you would typically say "No thank you" to. This way you don't have to eat a ton of it, but you are forced into trying it. Now in some cases such as with egg salad (for me at least) I could imagine this being considered cruel and unusual punishment, but most of the times it seems like it is a great idea. It certainly would have expanded my horizons.

I have decided to post some weather information on here hopefully with every entry, because I love the weather and trying to see what is going to happen with it. It will appear after the entry for the day, but before the DMB lyrics.

Keegan's Weather Report
Today - Sun along with some clouds, slightly windy with temps in the upper 30's to lower 40's.
Tomorrow - Snow Alert There will be a snow storm hitting southern New England starting in the morning and continuing throughout the day, with snowfall totals south of the city between 2 and 4 inches, but the north shore should end up with only a dusting to an inch. Temps will be around 30 degrees during the day.

Crazy Weekend

I had quite an interesting long weekend, it all started with a trip up to Sunday River on Thursday night. We got the whole apartment situation settled and then headed to the mountain for some skiing in the rain. The mountain was quiet and the rain wasn't bad until late in the afternoon. I did finally get to try out my new skis and I have to say shape skis are the best. I now feel as if I am twice as good as before skiing on them. They make it so easy to carve it is unbelievable, if anybody out there is still skiing on straight skis it is definitely time to make the switch. So after testing the skis out and getting totally soaked in the rain, I decided to call it a day around 3:15. Headed to Suds for some eats and to drink some hard cider and then off to bed at midnight. Woke up at six, thanks Mark for the wake up call, and headed back to Amesbury.

Once back in Amesbury I changed and headed further south to Boston, to pick up Britt, Vanessa (Britt's roommate ;-) and Jacq. We all piled into the Jetta and headed west for UMass Amherst. After two hours and some confusion on the UMass campus, we finally saw Nissa and parked the car. Hung out in the dorms for a while and then headed downtown for some food and shopping. Amherst seemed like a pretty cool place, though I don't know if I would want to live there. I also came to the realization, that I am old, because most of the people I met there were just freshmen and that means they are like seven years younger than I am. As most of you know, this is probably not the crowd I should be hanging out with ;-D It was cool hanging out and fun to see dorm life again, but I knew it was time to leave. I left in the afternoon only to return the next morning. I know it sounds crazy but I had a good time and would have to say it was a very successful weekend. To top off the weekend I had Thanksgiving dinner at my dad's house on Sunday night because he is going to be away for the next couple of weeks. The meal was great and I tried some new vegetables, including squash and peas, I think it is time to grow up and finally start eating them.

Mileage Contest
So after putting 700 miles on my new car this weekend I decided it was time to make it interesting. So I have decided to have my first livejournal contest. Whoever guesses the correct mileage on my car for December 31, 2002 at 11:59PM, without going over will win a $20 gift certificate to a restaurant to be named later. To enter you can either post your guess as a comment or email me at Keegsands@aol.com I will be posting the entries on the journal or on a contest page. The current mileage on the car is @ 2,234. Entry is free, so good luck. If you post it through a comment don't forget to include your name.

Lots of good stuff coming this week in the journal so stay tuned!!!

Let my weekend begin

Today is my last day at work, tomorrow I head to Maine for some skiing and to finalize paperwork on the apartment. Woo hoo, it is going to be a great winter.

Last night was BoCaNO at Grendel's Den in Cambridge and I must say the food there is pretty good. I had the potato skins and chicken quesadillas, which were both excellent, but the french bread pizza also looked good, but it would have been wrong for four of five people to order pizza. The best part of dinner was with a $3 beverage the entire menu is half price. I did have a kind of strange moment last night when I went to use the bathroom. I found the bathrooms and one door had a picture of a woman and said "Women", the other door had a picture of Einstein and said "Either Or." So I chose the Einstein door, I came out of the stall and there was a woman washing her hands at the sink, my first instinct was one of panic that I had accidentally chosen the wrong door, let me tell you I got quite nervous, but then I remembered the "Either Or" sign and realized I was okay. So if you are a guy and go to Grendel's Den be forewarned that you may bump in to a woman in the bathroom.

On the train ride home last night, I was given a second chance to do something I meant to do a few weeks ago. So I guess I should start from the beginning, last month I was at the gym in the morning, because I didn't work or it was the weekend, either way the point is that it was not my typical time to be at the gym. I saw this girl and knew I recognized her and finally after about ten minutes realized she had been in my class in high school. However, I am not the type of person to just walk over and say something, for fear I won't be recognized and because I am not huge on just walking up to people and talking to them. On top of it all I think most people who are working out at the gym don't want to be bothered. I contemplated through my entire workout whether I should say something or not, and as you may have guessed I left and didn't say a word. After thinking about it I realized I probably should have said something and it wouldn't be a big deal. Fast forward to last night, I was waiting for the train and saw the girl and her father, so I was given a second chance, but once again I spent more time thinking about whether I should do it, which usually causes me to doubt myself. So after about forty five minutes of reading and thinking about what to say I did it and went over and chatted for a few minutes. She and her father recognized me and the doubts I had in my crazy brain were just that, crazy. I have to do something about my second guessing. If any of you are wondering, no dice on the girl she is engaged.

Free Bagel Day

On my way to work today I thought I would have nothing to put into the journal this morning, but over the past hour some stuff has come up. You may be wondering what possibly could have happened in one hour's time, I will tell you. First of all whenever there is free food at work a phenomenon occurs where all of the people, rush to the food as if they haven't eaten for days. Now I will admit, I am strangely drawn to the food and try my best to wait, but sometimes I just can't help but join in on the feeding frenzy. I try to theorize why people would act this way and it all comes down to the fact that no matter what the free food is, there is always going to be the flavor or toppings which nobody wants to eat. The people ordering the food always attempt to get a little bit of every flavor, to please everybody, but they seem to go too far and order really obsucure items. For example, today we had two bags of honey grain bagels, now I am sure they are great, but how many people are actually going to choose them. Pizza is another great example, we always seem to get the typical cheese, pepperoni or mushroom, but then there is always the random eggplant, hot pepper, and broccoli pizza. It is due these exceptions to the norm that people rush to get in line and eat, because nobody wants to get up there and be forced to eat the worst varieties of the free food. I understand that it is probably difficult to order and I am not sure I would do a better job, but seriously don't go out of your way to get exotic flavors because it is just going to go to waste. Just get cheese and pepperoni pizza and everybody will be quite happy, I mean the food is free.

My second thing about this morning is with regards to orange juice pulp. When Elio and I went to buy OJ this morning for the party, we got two of each: no pulp, some pulp and tons of pulp. Little did we know, nobody likes pulp, when did this start. I knew some people didn't like pulp but apparently it is not popular at all. I personally don't care either way, but feel the pulpy orange juice is closer to the real thing. I would love to hear people's opinions on this. Do you really notice the pulp when you are drinking it, I thought it all just went down the shoot together, I have never really noticed any pulp hanging around in my mouth after I had a drink. Please click on the post comment link below on the right and anonymously post your thoughts. Personally I think you no pulp people are crazy, if you don't want pulp go mix some kool aid and water together and enjoy that pulp free orange juice.

Meteor shower?, More like meteor sprinkle

Over the past week Barry Burbank from WBZ 4 News has been going on and on about the Leonid meteor shower. Let me set this up by saying, WBZ is definitely my favorite morning new show, because Kerry and Scott are pretty funny and for the most part Barry's forecast is fairly accurate. I am not a huge fan of the radio guy Gary Lapierre, but well what are you going to do. Anyway, a couple of friends were talking about how they were waking up early in the morning to watch the meteor shower, so it was fresh in my mind when I went to sleep last night at midnight. Luckily, since I am a complete freak and always wake up before my six o'clock alarm, I was up this morning at 4:55. I thought okay, since I am awake it would be cool to check out the meteor shower since Barry said it would be spectacular. I threw on my coat, hat, gloves and some warm pants and headed downstairs. My stepfather was awake and wondered what in the world I was doing up so early, I explained about the meteor shower and he just nodded. Once outside I got excited because there wasn't a cloud in the sky and I thought I was about to see something amazing. I grabbed my beach chair and set it up in the drive way and began gazing towards the heavens. Within seconds a trail of light blazed across the sky and I thought for once I made a good decision, then another shooting star just south of the first. Now the waiting began and continued for five frozen minutes before I saw the next meteor. After sitting outside for forty five minutes in sub freezing temperatures I gave up the viewing. In total I saw about twenty five different streaks of light and I will admit it was great to see such an event, but I was slightly disappointed because it wasn't exactly a shower of meteors and more like a flurry of meteors. You would think after going inside I would be happier, but as soon as I turned the corner into the living room they had a camera shot of the sky on the news and I realized I could have stayed inside where it was warm and watched it on the tv. Well at least I can say I saw it and get to share it with those people who decided to actually sleep last night. See what Barry Burbank had to say about it WBZ4 Weather go to Forecast Discussions.

Besides not sleeping last night, I did go to the gym for the first time in two weeks, which actually felt good and healthy. I also watched the rerun of Sunday nights Sopranos and the Curb Your Enthusiasm season finale. Curb was one of the funniest things I have ever seen, if you have never seen this show, check it out on HBO. Here is a link so you can see some clips. Curb Your Enthusiasm Episode Guide

Nice Weather

Once again it was another busy weekend for me. It all started on Friday night at PF Chang's for dinner, as usual it was excellent. Next was the new Harry Potter movie, which was a bit long but true to the book. Having to sit in the second row, did prove to be a bit exhausting. I don't know how they are ever going to squeeze the fourth book into a movie, it will probably be six hours long and will require an intermission. I am still going even if it is eight hours long.
Funny Story Time I got home at 12:30 and was quite exhausted, so I got into bed and shut the light off. I smelled something bad, and then my shoulder felt damp. I quickly jumped from the bed and turned the light on, and saw a wet spot on the bed, in an instant I knew the cat had been in my room. She has been sick lately and urinating all over the place, and unfortunately my bed was her latest victim. I took the sheets off and put them in the hall, but I don't have a spare set and my sleeping bag was in the attic. So I flipped the mattress over and rotated it, bundled up with about five layers of clothes and slept on the bare mattress. I have the best luck.

On Saturday, I went to my second wedding in two weeks for my friend Victor from work. It was great, but the snowstorm was really annoying. By the time we left the reception, my car was covered in ice and snow and it took about ten minutes to clean it off. The wedding ceremony was short, which is a good thing and the reception was fun. I can't believe how much food they serve at weddings, people are always saying that weddings are so expensive, I think most of the cost comes from the six courses they bring out. I think it would be easier to have a one course meal, first of all it will be cheaper and the second reason is because by the time the main course comes out most people have filled up on salad, soup, crackers, hors d'oeuvres, rolls, fruit, pasta and whatever else is served. It turns out that the most expensive part ends up being wasted because nobody has any room left. It would probably be okay to serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as the main course, since nobody will be eating it anyway, at least you would save some mad cash. The length of the reception would also be cut down drastically because more then 50% of the time at a reception is spent eating. Just think how much more time could be spent dancing, (oh wait maybe it is not such a great idea). Either way Victor's reception was fun and I had a great time. Best wishes to Victor and Lesley.

Now back to the snow, while it is not good for a wedding day, it is essential for skiing. The snow inspired me to head up north on Sunday morning, making it three weeks in a row, except this time I went to Sunday River. The roads were terrible and it took me forty minutes longer than usual to get there, but it was worth it. It is true that there were only a couple trails open, but American Express was amazing especially at the top and the terrain park was fun at the bottom. I can't wait to get the bindings put on my new skis and finally start practicing my helicopters :o) Hopefully I will be using them on my next trip up north on Friday.

New Skis

I know I am late updating this today, sorry. Okay lets see, last night I went to the Boston Ski Expo with some BoCaNoers and my brother. I ended up buying some new skis, 2002 Salomon 1080's, but after some research, I may return them tomorrow and get some 2001 Salomon 1080's from a ski shop in Salisbury. I know this may seem silly, but the 2002's are white and have a little robot guy on them, while the 2001's are blue. I would also like to spend money in the local store instead of a larger chain. The rest of the ski show was pretty cool, I ended up with a bunch of stickers and some other free stuff. Stowe was giving out free t-shirts, stress yo-yo's and red pens. It was cool just walking around and checking out all of the different stuff. My two favorite things were probably the skaters doing tricks in the mini skate park and the girl who was jumping on the trampoline and doing flips in the air.

Opening Day Picture at Sunday River today. It is official the ski season has begun at my favorite New England resort. The lifts are turning and they are skiing and riding on a whopping nine trails, BUT my sources tell me they are expected to get up to 11 inches this weekend. So hopefully by the time I get up there on Sunday they will have at least 12 trails open. If only it hadn't rained last week, there would be over 20 open for this weekend, well the weather is certainly one of those things we just can't control, yet.

I saw this in the Metro today and had to post it. It is good to see people with a sense of humor.
From letters in the Boston Metro Weekend Edition November 15-17, 2002
You won't find bias in Metro monkey report by Stacey Lee from Boston
All too often these days, people jump to conclusions over someone's innocence or guilt after being exposed to seemingly biased reports in the media. I respect the Metro for their dedication to journalism in its purest form. Yesterday, the Metro was very careful to point out that despite overwhelming evidence at the scene (including the fact that the opening through which the crime was committed was too small to fit a human being), the names of the 15 monkey suspects were not printed. The Metro was also very responsible to report that the group "allegedly broke into the mansion" - nothing had yet been proven in a court of law. Thank you Metro.

Have a great weekend and look for an update next Tuesday, since I will probably be skiing on Monday.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song Title: So Right
Roll out down to midnight
Then roll on downtown 'til it's light
Because tomorrow we may die
Oh, but tonight we're dancing in the faint light
Don't you rob yourself of what you're feeling
Don't rob yourself of all that you could be
Roll hard 'til midnight
Roll 'til it's light

Come on now
Stay up and make some memories
Yeah, with us now
Roll the red carpet out with friends
To whom, to love and roll on
