EMINEM We Surrender!

First of all Eminem if you are reading this, it is not that I don't enjoy your music, because I do, but you are on the radio too much. So please don't bust a cap in my ass for the following opinion. A couple of us at work, John and I, have had about enough of the white rapper/actor Eminem. The problem is that this guy at work, we'll call him Rappin' Rob, likes to listen to a rap station all day. We are forced to listen since his radio is always blaring, but not quite loud enough for us to hear anything besides the bass and the few random whistles and chirps which appear in rap songs. So all day we hear the same dozen songs over and over again. How does Eminem fit in to this? Well since he is so popular lately we get to hear him every five songs, which is too much. Also if you go on the internet or turn on the tv he is there because of his movie. I haven't seen the movie, but I am sure he is a great actor and I think it would be great to see him in different roles. It is obvious now that he is a great musician and a great actor, now can't he just go away or tone it down a bit. Maybe we should just sabotage Rappin' Rob's radio so he can't listen to it or maybe even give him some headphones (now that's an idea).

Last night we had BoCaNO at the Good Life. I sat at the bar for a half an hour because I didn't realize everybody else had already arrived. The cool thing about it though was that my bartender was Rich, of Rich's Chocolate Martini on the menu. It was a good time last night, with the exception of the huge fashion discussion(thanks Mark).
Things I learned:
1) Depending on the neckline and your breast size a woman will button her cardigan differently.
2) Thongs are not on the way out, because panty lines will never be a good thing.
3) One piece bathing suits aren't good for women with long torsos especially if they have smaller breasts.
Once again thanks Mark for bringing that up. We also discussed relationships and how to succeed in them. Ironically I think everybody at the table was single. It seems to be a common theme lately, that all of the relationship advice I hear about now comes from people that are single. How can I take advice from single people? If they really knew anything about relationships wouldn't they be in one? So like any advice you kind of have to take it with a grain of salt.

One more thing for today, which was kind of disturbing. On the train ride home there were a bunch of people who had gone to the Celtics game and were very lively of course. I sat next to this one guy who is one of those talkers, who is kind of slow, but thinks he knows all there is about the athletes. I am annoyed by this, but I just kept my headphones on and tried to ignore him because he is also the type of person that will just start talking to you and if you acknowledge what he says at all, you just opened the floodgates for conversation. Luckily I avoided this, but the guys across from me were not so lucky and began speaking with him. The guys knew what they were getting into though and proceeded to make fun of the guy for the next thirty minutes. It was so funny and I ended up laughing most of the way home, I did kind of feel bad for the guy though, because at points they were kind of harsh, but it is all payback for the train rides I am sure he has ruined for some unsuspecting victim.

Have a great day!! :o)

Oops Forgot this Yesterday

I know I am a bad kid for missing an entry yesterday, but believe it or not I was kind of busy at work yesterday. I do have to say I am ready for some sunshine, the weather guy today reassured me that the sun was still there and we will actually see it tomorrow. If he is right I can't wait. The most irritating thing about the weather is that ever since I purchased my season pass the temperature in Boston hasn't fallen below forty degrees, I have the best luck :o) In other ski news, Sunday River is opening this weekend despite all of the warm weather and rain. Unfortunately, I won't be there for opening day, but I am going to try and make it up there on Sunday.

Last night was a late night at work, we had a major late minute project, which didn't work the first time and I had to change it around, BUT in the end I was able to get it working correctly and think I helped save some people a little bit of time. The problem with staying late was that by the time I got home it was too late for the gym, so now I havent' been in over a week. I knew I shouldn't have purchased the four month pass, it would probably be cheaper to just pay per visit.

I have a link for you all to check out today. If you saw Dumb and Dumber and thought it was funny check out the Dumb and Dumber Sounds.

Veteran's Day

Eighty four years ago on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, World War I came to an end. Originally in 1926, the "Armistice Day" national holiday was recognized to honor those who served in WWI. At the time it seemed the "War To End All Wars", would be the last major war. However, within a decade war had broken out again and the holiday was later changed to "Veterans Day" to honor those who have served America in all wars. So on this day of rememberance please take a moment and think about the sacrifices some people have made to allow you the freedom you have today in 2002.

The preceding is a public service announcement to encourage the recognition of our veterans. Now onto my weekend. It started out kind of lame, I got home at eight and decided I would prepare the racks for my car. I tried to put the bars into the feet and no matter how I tried they just wouldn't fit, so I drove to the mall thinking perhaps my load bars were the wrong size. Fortunately, EMS didn't have any and I was forced to play around with the old bars. After some strange accident I realized the feet had a release which allowed the bar to fit.

Saturday was spent running errands and putting the rack on the car. I ended up going to my dad's house for help with the rack. It turns out the release I found on Friday, is extremely difficult to unrelease. My dad and I then figured out how to put the rack on after about fifteen minutes of trial and error. If it wasn't for my dad, my skis or bike would probably have blown of the roof of my car. Thanks dad!! On Saturday night I went to my friend Karen's wedding. It was quite amazing, which is not a surprise because she has been planning it since she was just a little girl. I had a very good time at the wedding and the reception afterwards. I would also like to extend my best wishes to them. I left the wedding around 12:30 and was in bed by 1:15, and then five short hours later I woke up and went skiing at Killington. I picked up my Killington/Pico Ski America season pass and skiied for a few hours. The conditions were very spring like with a lot of bare spots. I basically just practiced my mogul skiing and went home after I started to get tired. Once home, Travis, my brother and I went to Pizzeria Uno. The Patriots game was cool, I couldn't believe they pulled it off in the end.

Here is a picture of my car, by the way it now has over 700 miles on it since last Wednesday.

Thank God Its Friday

I had some crazy fun last night at the Warren Miller movie at the Somerville Theater. It was my first time seeing one of his films in a real theater and it was cool. The three parts I enjoyed most were the Outlaw skiing competition segment, the mountain biking and the segment with the Dave Matthews Band as the soundtrack was great. We went to the Burren before the show, I have never been in a smokier bar, besides maybe Foley's. I was starving and decided to get some chicken fingers, just make sure you are actually starving before you eat food there because it is terrible. I got four chicken fingers and half of them were about the size of my thumb. After eating we went to the show and they were handing out free Clif bars, so I grabbed a few. I was kind of hungry on the train this morning and ate one of them, I forgot it had extra caffeine and buy the time I got to work my hand was twitching. I can't imagine what would happen if I had a cup of coffee.

I can't wait to go skiing now, I am determined to work on my bumps, even if it means taking about 20 runs a day on 3-D at the river. Only a week to go :-)

Back to Work

I just got back to work and my coworkers left me this drawing on the whiteboard.

The wheels aren't exactly round, but the front end appears to have been meticulously drawn to closely resemble the car. The most important feature to notice, for those of you not familiar with the whiteboard drawings, is my hair in the classic "Browkaw" style.

The drive to work was stressful today, I had to drive to Malden because I am going out after work tonight. I have never been so nervous driving before, it was certainly a good test of the new car. The traffic was insane on route one and then into Malden and for two days in a row I had to leave the car in a parking garage, I am just asking for the first scratch.

Last night's BoCaNO was great. It was nice to have two new people out with us Chris and Travis. I do have a couple complaints about the Cambridge Brewing Company, first of all the pizza had the thinnest crust of any pizza ever, it was just like they had spread tomato sauce onto wax paper and put cheese on it and surrounded it with a circle of bread. My other complaint is about the service, I asked for a lemonade three times and finally after twenty five minutes I got it. Besides those two things I did enjoy the beer and the nachos.

My New Car

Some of you may wonder where I have been for the last couple days. Well I have been out purchasing a new car. It has been the biggest head ache ever, from the dealings with the dealer, to the paperwork, paperwork, paperwork and removing the cd changer from my old car. However, I now have some new wheels.

It is a 2003 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T, the official color is Alaska Green and it is a five speed. I will go into more detail later especially about the fun at the dealership.

Have a great day everybody!
Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Today's song is dedicated to Mabel, my old Jetta
Song Title: #41
Come and see
I swear by now I'm playing time against my troubles
I'm coming slow but speeding
Do you wish a dance and while I'm in the front
The play on time is won
But the difficulty is coming here

First Ski Trip

Yesterday I went skiing for the first time this season at Killington VT. The weather was perfect and although there wasn't much natural snow the skiing was still excellent. We got up there and they had 24 trails open, which I thought was pretty good for the first week of the year. Of course there were the icy people packed trails near the bottom, which I tried to avoid at all costs, but there were also several bump trails with very well defined bumps. The early season skiing has pushed the issue of whether or not to buy a season pass. I have been racking my brain for the past couple of weeks, but I really need to decide soon. The question is whether or not I will ski 30 times before the end of the season. There are certain pros to the pass, not having to stand in line for your tickets, lack of guilt if you get a ticket and decide you don't want to ski, 20% off at the ski shop. I don't know if anybody has a comment on this it would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing, I went to see the movie "Comedian" on Friday and I thought it was excellent. It is basically a documentary following Jerry Seinfeld and another comedian, Orney Adams, and there respective careers. It mostly shows Jerry trying to create a new act from scratch, it helps to give you an idea of how difficult it is to be a comedian. The other guy has been working for a while and is finally getting his big break. Orney was kind of annoying and was very arrogant even though he really didn't have a reason to be arrogant. It was interesting how Jerry was actually very nervous and not confident at most of his shows. It was certainly not a laugh a minute as you would expect, but if you have ever thought of being a stand up comedian, check this movie out and you will realize that you could never do it.

Dave Matthews Band Lyrics of the Day
Song Title: I Did It
I never did a single thing that did a single thing
To change the ugly ways of the world
I didn’t know it felt so right inside
I didn’t know it all
I open up the curtains
I heard sirens there, the lights flash and crawl
But I did it justice
I swear I did it for us all, you know
